CHRISTIAN HEROLD - Executive Director

Executive Director, MA & ABD in Performance Studies (NYU) joins the MCA from New York City, where he was an adjunct professor in NYU's Drama Dept., served on the board of Women and Performance: a journal of feminist theory, directed RingOut, Inc. and directed and enacted his own performance work. He is a published writer and speaker on multiculturalism and sound art, and a published playwright. He directed NYU's Intercultural Performance Colloquium. In an earlier incarnation (in the Boston area), he directed the Animist Theater Co., worked as a daily reporter for the Middlesex News and the Dedham Daily Transcript, and taught creative drama.

BARBARA K. SIMKOWSKI - Education Director

With a master's degree in education from Harvard, Barbara directed the adult and community education programs for the public schools in Newton (executive director) and Brookline (assistant director). She was also the assistant director of the Cambridge Center for Adult Education. She served for a year as co-president of the parents-Teacher Organization of the Pierce Elementary School in Brookline, as a board member of the Brookline Symphony Orchestra, and as a writer with the Boston Theater Group.


Barbara Simkowski

 

LOTUS LIEN - Program Coordinator

Lotus has a degree in business and marketing management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has worked as an International Marketing Manager for many years before returning to art. She recently completed a Bachelors of Fine Art in Interdisciplinary Arts from the New Hampshire Institute of Art with emphasis in ceramic sculpture, painting, and art education. Lotus is a working ceramic artist with a passion for community and public art and taught mural painting during April's vacation camp.
