Senior Arts Program

 

This educational program was developed by ArtSpan in collaboration with Lexington's Council on Aging and is generously funded by Crossroads Community Foundation.

 

Class Schedule for Winter 2012


Watercolor Painting with Emily Passman
The class will learn simple and effective wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques of watercolor painting, along with demonstrations on creating skies, foliage, stones, grass, and water. We will explore color and how to create the colors you want. Hand-outs will include information on brushes, paper, and stretching. $25 tuition.
4 Mondays from 10am-11:30am at the Senior Center: 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, and 3/26.

Jewelry Making with Andrea Karis
Join jewelry designer Andrea Karis for this four-part jewelry workshop and learn to design and create unique pieces with wire, beads and other embellishments using a variety of techniques. $25 tuition; $20 supplies (total $45).
4 Tuesdays from 10am to 11:30am at the Senior Center: 3/6, 3/13, 3/20, and 3/27.

Ceramics with Carmela Goguen
Whether or not you have had experience with ceramics and clay, this class will get you started again! Learn basic handbuilding techniques, firing, and glazing of your pieces, and get an introduction to wheel work through watching demonstrations. Join us for an enjoyable morning of ceramics that will whet your appetite for more! $25 tuition; $10 supplies (total $35).
4 Wednesdays from 10 am to 12 pm at Munroe Center for the Arts: 3/7, 3/14, 3/21 and 3/28. For this class at Munroe, participants must be able to negotiate one flight of eight stairs.
