MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
In the year ahead will not just survive in this pandemic, but we will grow.
We are blessed with a good foundation, and that is what makes us great.
In today’s angst-ridden world we also provide:
So it is with these attributes that we will not only survive but will grow this year.
This is all made possible by our amazing TEACHERS, STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, STUDENTS, PATRONS, and FRIENDS. For all of you who have given this year in one of those capacities, THANK YOU.
We are going to keep at it, and we are going to have a remarkable year together.
- Cristina Burwell, 29 September 2020
In the year ahead will not just survive in this pandemic, but we will grow.
We are blessed with a good foundation, and that is what makes us great.
- We house a diverse collection of artists and artforms
- This provides us with collaboration and cross-pollination to enrich our offering
- We have dedicated staff and volunteers who go above and beyond because of the love of what we do/have the potential to do
- We have long-running programs that have been operating for over 30 years
- We have a big old building that is steeped in history and education
- Education to perfect or practise one’s craft, or
- Education to learn a new skill in the arts
- Opportunities to create, and to enjoy art and performances
In today’s angst-ridden world we also provide:
- Distraction with something enjoyable as the beauty inherent in the arts often is;
- Peace through the focused attention of being in the moment with one’s music, drawing, dance, or acting;
- Self-expression, a means to combat negative thinking, though creating art, dancing, making music, writing, and speaking; and
- Socialization with others who have the same interests.
So it is with these attributes that we will not only survive but will grow this year.
- We will greet our students and audience with safe and inspirational ways to learn and come together
- We will continue focus on our home, as we move past the refurbished windows and craft plans for accessibility, address our HVAC needs, and refresh the walls that embrace us
This is all made possible by our amazing TEACHERS, STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, STUDENTS, PATRONS, and FRIENDS. For all of you who have given this year in one of those capacities, THANK YOU.
We are going to keep at it, and we are going to have a remarkable year together.
