ArtSpan is the non-profit arts education program of The Munroe Center for the Arts. It is dedicated to providing high quality arts programming for the entire community and beyond. ArtSpan offers visual and performing arts classes for all ages, in three semesters from September through June. These classes include ceramics, painting, drawing, jewelry, acting and more. Our vacation arts programs are offered during the February and April school vacation breaks, and for eight or nine weeks in the summertime. All programs during school vacation are theme-based, and include instruction in visual arts, performing arts, and ceramics. Basic programs are available for ages 5-11, and in the summertime a special program for Counselors in Training is offered for ages 12-14.
Policies and Procedures
Policies for Children
For the safety of children, we ask that they be dropped off directly to their teacher in the classroom and remain with the teacher until picked up by a parent or authorized adult. If a child is allowed to leave after class on their own, a note from the parent or guardian stating so is required before the first class or with registration information.
Building Restoration Fee
Munroe Center for the Arts has instituted a modest Building
Restoration Fee required for all students taking classes at any Munroe school. This $35 fee for each student with a $75 maximum per family will be assessed each academic year, beginning with Fall registrations. Please remember that this fee is due only once a year. This fee demonstrates our collective dedication to revitalizing this much-beloved home for the arts in Lexington. If you have already paid this fee with another registration at one of the other Munroe Schools (i.e. Lexington School of Ballet or The Dance Inn), you do not need to pay an additional fee for ArtSpan registration.
From time to time, our school either photographs or videotapes school or classroom activities to keep our community informed of our various educational programs. Photos of students and/or artwork may be submitted to the local newspaper, social media, print work such as brochures and posters, and our website.
On the class registration page, please select whether you consent/decline to the Munroe Center for the Arts, Artspan to photograph/video tape your son/daughter without limitation and to use pictures and/or videos in connection with any of the work of the Munroe Center for the Arts & Artspan without consideration of any kind and hereby release the Munroe Center for the Arts, Artspan from any claims that may arise in said regard.
Parking and Drop-Off
Our new parking lot has created a one-way round lot with easy drop off in the back center of the building less than 10 feet from your car. We request your attention to the following to ensure everyone's safety:
Refunds & Credits
Students and families are encouraged to be prepared to take any class they register for. This helps ArtSpan effectively plan for teaching staff, materials, and other administrative details. Because life is not always predictable, we understand the need to make changes and expect that students and families will be familiar with the refund policies listed below.
