ArtWalk was created to make Lexington Center more vibrant by displaying artwork in the shop windows, with a secondary benefit of bringing more foot traffic to our local shops & artists.  Since then, the  ArtWalk organizing committee has also catalyzed a number of public art projects, including the giant numbers that celebrate the turning of the calendar.

2025 is the 5th annual placing of the date in Depot Square!

ARTWALK 2025 DATES

• Sept. 22 - deadline for art submissions, and the beginning of curating art in shop windows
• Oct. 1 - Artists drop off their artwork to Grain Mill Alley near Bank of America (raindate 10/2)
• Oct. 1-8 - Artwork gets moved into shop windows in Lexington Center
• October 9 - 5:30 to 7:30pm public reception @ Galaray House
• Find your favorite artist on the spreadsheet here!
• Nov. 20 - End of display - artists pick up, and sign out their artwork

ArtWalk, the community art exhibition, happens each fall and is open to all artists from Lexington and beyond. Anyone interested should sign up for the MCA newsletter to receive the Call for Artists early in the summer.  

In 2015, the Munroe Center for the Arts got together with the Lexington Center Alliance to brainstorm ideas to enliven Lexington's downtown.  This led to the annual ArtWalk where local artists' work is displayed in shop windows.  Since then, the committee has grown and the brainstorming has grown.
