The Art of the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway, and Surrounds Show is hosted by the Munroe Center for the Arts, Lexington MA’s community arts center. This show is part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway. The committee for this exhibition is made up of representatives from the Munroe Center for the Arts, and the Friends of Lexington Bikeways.

The purpose of this show, and of the artwork contained, is to showcase the bikeway - its history, its users, and its beauty.
Artist Criteria for Submission:
Submitting artists must:
- Artists may be of any age, and/or from any region
- Focus of artwork needs to relate to bicycles, the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway or surrounding areas. Priority will be given to images reflecting the Bikeway.
- Artists will be invited to attend the show’s reception in September (the date to be determined).
Submission Process:
- Email all submissions to events@munroecenter.org by midnight, August 25, 2018
- Submit up to 3 digital images (JPGs) of actual works that may be selected for the exhibition. JPGs should be approximately 8”x10” at 144ppi, or 1152 pixels x 1449 pixels. Each JPG shall be captioned with artist’s last name, first initial and image number (example: Smith_J_1.jpg Smith_J_2.jpg, Smith_J_3.jpg).
- Along with the JPGs, the Application Form shall be completed and submitted to identify titles, media, sizes, and which pieces are available for sale
- A $10 entry fee is being collected to cover associated costs. Checks can be delivered to Munroe Center for the Arts, 1403 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington MA 02420
- Application form shall include a 2 - 3 sentence narrative about the artist and subject matter.
Artwork Restrictions:
- Works can be either two or three-dimensional
- All two-dimensional works must be wires and ready to hang.
Selection Process & Notification:
- This exhibit will be juried by Zoe Perry-Wood. Zoe is a fine art, social documentary & portrait photographer represented by Gallery Kayafas in Boston. Her work is currently on exhibit in (un)expected families at the MFA Boston. Her work has been exhibited in galleries internationally including the National Portrait Gallery in London. Zoe has a deep appreciation for the Minuteman Trail and has been using it for over 20 years.
- Artwork will be judged by artistic quality and relationship to the show’s topic of the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway and the area surrounding it.
- All artists who submit work for consideration will be notified by the jury by August 27, 2018
IMPORTANT
- All decisions of the jurors are final.
- If you are accepted, by submitting your entry you give the exhibitors the right to publish your images for publicity purposes; we may ask select artists to provide higher resolution jpegssuitable for publishing.
- Artists are responsible for delivering the artwork ready-to-hang between August 27 to August 31; each accepted artist will work with the exhibition team to assure the work is properly prepared for display.
- Artists are responsible for picking up their work between November 1 & 2 during office hours (9-5), from the Gallery at the Munroe Center for the Arts.
- No sales will happen at the MCA. In the event of interest in purchasing art, the artist will be put in direct contact with the interested party and will receive 100% of proceeds from any resulting sales.
