Building Restoration Fund
Purpose
The BRF is a MCA account that is funded annually by individuals who take classes at the Munroe Center for the Arts (MCA). This fund provides a source of revenue to be used in building renovations, and maintenance. Among other things, these monies are being used for such things as a new parking lot in 2016, which created a more pleasant user experience (free of potholes, and increased parking spaces) as well as increased safety with the ensuing clearer traffic pattern. These funds also made a new roof possible in 2017, and attic insulation and heat wiring in 2018 to prevent ice dams and prevent loss of heat. These funds continue to provide monies for additional maintenance to repair and replace old gutters, a broken fence, and more.
Process
Beginning with the new MCA fiscal year in September, registrants are charged $35 for the year by each of the schools they attend. If someone takes classes in multiple schools at the MCA, they are only charged once. There is a $75 cap set for families.
If the MCA Board of Directors determines a need to raise the BRF fee, MCA Schools will be notified at least 60 days in advance of this increase.
Schools continually collect these funds from new students throughout the year. Schools are asked to provide collected BRF funds to the MCA office by the end of the month in November & June. Additionally, schools are asked to provide the MCA Business Manager with a digital spreadsheet so that student names can be cross-referenced to ensure that all students pay, and don’t inadvertently pay more than once.
