About our Program:
Our ceramics studio fires in an electric kiln to mid-range cone 5 (approx 2160* f). The studio has 10-12 glazes with underglazes available and is equipped with 7 potters wheels, work tables and slab roller. Enrolled students are given a 25lb bag of clay and a shelf for projects. Students can often choose between Laguna B-Mix and Standard 112 clay bodies Demonstrations and exercises vary week to week and are often tailored to meet the needs of those enrolled. All levels of experience and background are welcome.

Carmela Fratus
Carmela graduated from the fine arts/ceramics program at San Diego State University. With over 20 years experience teaching, she enjoys assisting artists of any age in finding their artistic voice. As program manager, Carmela strives to provide a safe and creative space for all. Carmela’s work can be found on Etsy. |
Ellie House
A graduate from Mass Art, Ellie is an accomplished ceramic artist with an affinity for colorful and intricate surface design. Ellie has been teaching ceramics at Munroe for three years and continues to challenge students with new, creative projects. To learn more about Ellie, visit her website here. |
Courtney Spence
Courtney has a background in early childhood education and yoga. She has been a member of our ceramics program for several years before joining our staff. Courtney's pottery is precise and inviting as is her teaching style. Courtney’s pottery can be found on Etsy here. Karla Collins-Eck
Karla has exhibited her work in public installations including fundraising auctions and several Umbrella Center for the Arts Earth exhibits. In 2020 she showcased her students’ work at Reasons to Be Cheerful. She was an Art for All teacher at the Village Art Room. During Covid, out of work, she reached out to share her love of art. During this time she assembled as many of Karlas Kits as she could possibly make for local quarantined children. These sensory and process art kits were totally economical and delivered door to door at no extra cost. The kit materials were natural and upcycled. Two of Karla’s installations are concurrently featured at Go Outdoors/Westford and Lexington rail trails. Some of Karla’s art can been seen on her Instagram account @karla.4668 |
Judith Cooper
Judith Cooper is an artist, teacher and workshop facilitator in her home studio and participates in the Lexington Open Studios weekend. She was an art teacher in the public schools where she focused mainly at the high school in ceramics, drawing and the portfolio class for students applying for art school. She has a BFA in painting from BU, did graduate work through the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, received a Masters from Lesley University as well as a certificate for a two-year Spiritual Guidance program through Rowe Conference Center. www.jcooperstudio.com Anya Krupnik
Anya Krupnik is an art educator, designer, and artist with a Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale University. She co-founded Alma Mater, an educational studio in Lexington, where she has taught a wide variety of art classes to children, youth and adults. Anya is passionate about art history and believes that art lessons bring an inspiration that lasts a lifetime. |
