​This workshop will be broken up into three-hour sessions over a full weekend, culminating in a brief performance for families/friends on Sunday afternoon. Participants will be introduced to the core components of creating a play, such as writing dialogue, developing themes, and crafting memorable characters.​​

• Saturday will focus on a series of creative prompts, in an exercise in how to create improvised scenes, monologues, and movement pieces with a unified theme
• Sunday will have participants practicing and then performing a short, collaborative play inspired by everyone’s compiled work from the previous day
• Formatted similar to 24-hour play challenges, this workshop will help to hone creative skills, while encouraging creative expression and collaboration
• This workshop is formatted for youth grades 3 - 6, and ideal for those with an interest in theatrical acting or writing!​​

Meet the Instructor:

Kate Riley is a local educator, director, and Munroe super-fan! Inspired by the creativity and dedication to the arts, Kate is excited to stay connected with the Munroe community. She holds a BFA in Theatre Education & Performance, as well as a Massachusetts Initial Teaching License in K-12 Theatre Education. Her background includes extracurriculars and productions for Walnut Hill School for the Arts, Natick Drama Workshop, Framingham High School Drama Company, Beyond the 4th Wall Expression Theatre, and more. With a passion for using theatre to expand social and emotional development, Kate is excited to bring her energy to this community-centric program this season!
