Bountiful Harvest Monotype Workshop
Adults
10:30AM - 2:30 PM
Saturday, November 18th
Instructor - Stephanie Stigliano
$85
Monoprint is considered "the painterly print". This method of painting on a plate and passing it through the press was popularized by Edgar Degas and used by artists from Rembrandt to local contemporaries like Michael Mazur and Catherine Kernan. Monotypes are a simple and direct introduction to the magic of printmaking, enabling artists to quickly and easily build a thematic series or sequence. It is friendly to both beginners and experienced artists alike!
This workshop will focus on inspiration from the harvest season with drawing and painting by observation of seasonal fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Students will print directly from designs to create two- or three-color monoprints.
There will be a 30 min. break for lunch. Students are expected to bring their own, unrefrigerated lunches. All materials are non-toxic and included in the price of the workshop, including specialized Rives BFK printmaking paper. We ask all students using the printmaking studio to review our studio use guidelines.
