We’ll use paint along with brushes, stamps and sponges to decorate our own collage papers. We’ll then use our papers to compose colorful Collage art. We’ll also fold, weave and/or glue our papers to create unique hand-made Artist Books. Depending on students’ interests we’ll have the option of exploring three-dimensional construction by building a miniature art museum and filling it with our own small-scaled paintings and sculptures. There will be time for a snack and stretch break, outdoors if the weather cooperates.

You have seen the work of artist Jill Strait all around town (painted utility boxes, art doors along the bikeway last fall) as well as leading our July CIT group this summer. She is offering a special class for this fall, based on previous workshops, to learn about creating murals and public art. Delve into the process of expanding on an idea and sketch into the larger scale, as well as materials for making your artwork long-lasting. The class will take place both indoors and outdoors, when the weather is hospitable. No experience required.
