Debra Claffey
As a visual artist, Debra Claffey concentrates on plant and foliage form through encaustic, oil, and mixed media. Her experience in horticulture adds a scientific perspective to her aesthetic appreciation of the natural world.
She holds a BFA in Painting from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Tufts University and an Associate’s Degree in Horticultural Technology from the University of New Hampshire. Leah Nashel is a painter, writer, and multi-disciplinary artist. She graduated from Brandeis University with a BA in Visual Arts, and had previously spent an awesome summer teaching at Munroe Center for the Arts Summer Camp! She is excited to share her love of creating with more students, helping them develop work that is unique and inspiring to them.

Jill Strait
Jill Strait has been teaching art for over 20 years across various local museums and art centers. Her work is largely inspired by her love of Bluegrass, Old Time and traditional country music. She has worked as a teaching artist with the Boch Center and Young Artists of MA (Boston), TDF and Marquis Studios (NYC). Her plays have been workshopped and presented at The Tank, Dixon Place, SheNYC Arts and the NY Int’l Fringe Festival, among others. She holds her B.A. in Writing for the Stage from Marymount Manhattan College and is currently pursuing a Masters in Theatre Education and her teaching licensure at Emerson College in Boston.

Lauren is a New England area based theatre artist and educator with a focus in Fight Direction and Stage Management. They found a passion for theatre in high school that led them to attend Emerson College where they graduated in 2018. During their time at Emerson they found a love for working with kids and producing work for young audiences. After graduation they spent two years working for Chamber Theatre Productions, a national touring theatre for young audiences company, and have freelanced around Mass. and Maine alongside various theatre companies and camps.

With over a decade of experience in the K-12 environment, Brit’s goal is using the arts as a vehicle for social and emotional growth, fostering an inclusive arts environment where people can be their authentic selves. Brit is a lover of curriculum for adults as well, having appeared as a guest instructor on Creating Safer Spaces in Plymouth State University's Expressive Arts Therapy course, as well as presenting at the American Alliance for Theatre and Education national conference with the workshop Be Yourself: Fighting Gender Conformity with TYA. They've also led workshops at the Rhode Island Theatre Conference and New England Theatre Conference on Team Building Through Sound and Song. Additionally, Brit is playwright of theatre for both children and adults, and enjoys tackling relevant and vulnerable content through theatre. Carmela graduated from the fine arts/ceramics program at San Diego State University. With over 20 years experience teaching, she enjoys assisting artists of any age in finding their artistic voice. As studio manager, Carmela strives to provide a safe and creative space for all. Carmela’s work can be found on Etsy.

Jodi Tippett is a long time Lexington resident. She is a fused glass artist and writer. She was greatly inspired by art therapy, after a cancer diagnosis 6 years ago. She has taken classes in creativity, pastels, watercolor, and drawing. Jodi views art as a form of creativity, discovery and exploration. She has worked as a school nurse, and loves working with children.

Chandra has lived in Lexington, MA since 1994, after receiving her Master’s degree in Clothing and Textiles from Michigan State University, with a specialization in Women’s Fashion Design and a minor in Theatre Costume Design. She has worked in the fashion industry for large retailers in design, product development and sourcing. She established – Shubhra Designs, LLC and www.shubrah.com in 2008, an online eco-friendly, fashion collection. The designs are a fusion of Indian fabrics with western silhouettes and sustainable fashions. She also advises high school students on their portfolios for college applications. Shubhra has been an active volunteer in the town, serving on the boards of several educational non-profit organizations and also teaching fashion classes via Hayden Recreation Center and Lexington Community Education.

She has exhibited her work in an open studio in Lacoste, France in addition to various gallery exhibition shows in the city of Savannah including: SCAD deFine Art Student Showcase and SCAD Drawing Works Exhibition, Hunny at Allure Salon, Project Liminal at Indigo Sky Gallery and Welcome to the Jam at the Bull Street College Center. Her work consists of paintings and mixed media installations centering on mental, psychological, and spiritual relationships. Pizzi currently works and resides in Boston, MA.

In 1999 she was awarded the Currier Museum of Arts highest award in the annual New Hampshire Art Association juried exhibit, and in 2004 she won the prestigious Ezekiel A. Straw Award. She enjoys travel and exploring new places and has taken part in artists’ residencies both in Ireland and in Spain. During her time in Ireland she led four college summer programs to study Art and Culture at the Burren College of Art. She has taught at a number of other institutions including University College, Syracuse University, UNH-Manchester, the NH Art Institute, Hesser College, White Pines College/Chester College of New England, Main Street Art, and Maine College of Art. She also teaches private lessons in her Button Factory studio in Portsmouth, NH. She currently has pieces on exhibit at the Lamont Gallery.
