About the Press:
Our printmaking studio is centered around the use of the American French Tool Press. This etching press is the heaviest on the market, equipped with large bearings, solid steel rolls, and a 30" x 48" bed.
Additionally, our studio is equipped with a tabletop Monotype 22 Press. This 22" x 44" press requires less strength to operate, and is perfect for lighter pressure printmaking.
These presses can collectively handle a range of pressures, allowing printmakers to explore linocut, dry-point, monotype, collagraph, and more!
The American French Tool press assembly process and example prints are shown below.
Students can review our current studio guidelines (2025-26) ahead of their first program.
