MONDAYS
Hand-building: Functional Ceramics, Carmela Fratus – Instructor
8 Mondays, 4/6 – 6/8 (no class 4/20 & 5/25), 10am – 1pm
$314/Materials Fee: $35
This new class will use hand-building techniques such as slab construction, pinch, and coil
building to create functional and sculptural art. Projects include serving pieces, centerpieces,
and art for the garden. Forming methods include some wheel use.
Life Drawing Studio & Model Time, Laurel Smith – Instructor
8 Mondays, 4/6 – 6/8 (no class 4/20 & 5/25), 10am – 12pm

This class is an open life-drawing studio. We provide the studio, models, easels, tables,
music, and community; you provide materials and artistic direction. All levels welcome.
TUESDAYS
Photos as Reference: A Different Approach, Emily Passman – Instructor
9 Tuesdays 4/7 – 6/9 (no class 4/21), 10am – 1pm

Ready to try a new approach? Using a series of guided exercises, move past fears of your
painting process and join us as we explore using photos as only a reference and starting
point. During this course you will find fresh and exciting ways to work in a larger format,
use your tools, choose color, and create composition.
Potters Wheel and Hand-building, Carmela Fratus – Instructor
9 Tuesdays 4/7 – 6/9 (no class 4/21), 10am – 1pm

This class is designed to allow each student to learn to create in clay and use the potter’s
wheel at their own pace in a supportive community. Weekly demonstrations on technique
are shared while students are encouraged to develop their own style. All levels welcome.
Ceramics: Find Your Style, Carmela Fratus – Instructor
8 Tuesdays 4/7 – 6/9 (no class 4/21 & 5/26), 5:30pm – 8:30pm

This class is available for students to focus on composition and technique. Weekly problem
solving design challenges and discussion are offered to encourage students to find their
personal aesthetic. *Evening instruction ends at 7:30pm, studio is open until 8:30pm.

WEDNESDAYS
Ceramics: Glaze Techniques, Carmela Fratus – Instructor
9 Wednesdays 4/8 – 6/10 (no class 4/22), 10am – 1pm
$342/Materials Fee: $35
This class will focus on how form and finish come together during the glazing process.
Students are encouraged to find their own palette and style. Techniques include use of
resists, under glazes, transfers and layering of cone 6 glazes. We will create new pieces
as well as finish pieces previously made in our studio. Bring your notebook and be ready
to experiment.
Pottery Form and Function, Genevieve Groesbeck-Watson – Instructor
9 Wednesdays 4/8 – 6/10 (no class 4/22), 5:30pm – 8:30pm
$342/Materials Fee: $35 (25lbs of clay)
Create pots with purpose from your own designs. This class is available for beginners to
learn. Returning students push their abilities to create well made, functioning pots with
pleasing forms. We’ll focus on proportion, composition, individual style and function.
THURSDAYS
Open Painting Studio, Emily Passman – Instructor

Approach your independent painting work under the guidance of an accomplished
instructor, while working on your projects at your own pace. All mediums welcome. A
suggested materials list will be provided.
Basic Drawing, Jill Pottle – Instructor

Come learn the basic techniques of how to draw. Through a variety of exercises, students will
learn how to correct proportions, design an effective composition, and create a strong sense of
perspective. Using charcoal and pencil, students will draw landscape, still life and portrait. We will
address value, line, tone and texture. This is a class for the beginner or the person who needs to
brush up on their drawing skills. This course reminds us that drawing is the backbone of painting.
Ceramics: Nature in Clay, Carmela Fratus – Instructor
9 Thursdays 4/9 – 6/11 (no class 4/23), 10am – 1pm

Learn new and varied ways to work in clay inspired by the shapes and textures of nature.
Beginning students will learn foundational forming methods while returning students can further
develop their skills in a new way. Forming methods will include both wheel and hand building.
