Using Photo as Painting Reference  (ONLINE)
Adults
Wednesdays, 1 PM to 3 PM EST
April 5 - 26th (Partial semester)
Instructor - Emily Passman
 $193

It’s time to give your painting a push! Using a photo only as a reference and starting point, students will be pushed to take some chances and break through fears about their painting process. Through a series of exercises, students will be guided to find fresh ways of seeing an old photo through cropping, inventing color, and creating composition. This class will help you to loosen up and follow new techniques to bring more expression and immediacy to your work.
This class will meet online through Zoom in April. Students will be given instructions before the start of class for using the Padlet app, to help share images for feedback.

Handmade Book & Mixed Media Collage
Adults
Thursdays, 10 AM - 12 PM
April 6 - May 18 (Partial semester, no class 4/20)
Instructor - Alice DelDonno
 $227

Delve into the realm of paper art and mixed-media collage as you create unique hand-made books.  Students will explore the potential of a basic concertina book fold, along with other variations including a lotus fold and a meandering fold. You'll apply paint to paper for your books, using a variety of materials, including stamps, sponges, stencils, brushes, brayers, as well as feathers, sticks or any mark-making object you choose. Create a motif for your book - nature, landscape or seascape, buildings or homes, abstract shapes and lines. Your books will take expressive form as you enjoy the process of constructing and composing each page. Everyone is welcome, whether you have loads of art-making experience, a little bit, or none at all!
