Testimonials

Read about what just a portion of our community has to say, in support of all we do!

"Munroe is an asset in the community! It is one of the most important sources of art education and community connection for our family. At Munroe, my son learned the piano and the cello from the amazing teachers, and my daughter discovered her love for pottery. More importantly, they found their passion for music and arts and the spirit of humanics that will keep them centered for the rest of their life. I’m grateful for Munroe for the many wonderful teachers and staff we have met here, who we now proudly call friends. They have provided such a welcoming and supportive environment for a new immigrant like me in the community. MCA is undoubtedly a magnet, attracting residents to find out more about ourselves, to discover the beauty and power of arts, and the town." - Hua Dong, MCA Outreach Committee member

"My son is a first grader at Lexington and attended the summer camp at Munroe this past summer. This has been his favorite summer camp, and we can’t wait to come back next summer. I’m also extremely impressed by how well the program was organized, the interesting activities, the friendly teachers and staff, and the flexibility in registration deadlines etc." - Sherry Yu, parent

"Munroe has been in our lives as long as we have been residents of Lexington, since 1994. Our kids attended dance classes and recitals, I have taught fashion classes there and arranged flowers with a local florist. As an artist and designer living in Lexington for 28 years, it is a special place for adults and children alike. When children have access to summer camps, outdoor art activities and beautiful indoor spaces to learn music, dance and art, it enriches our entire community. Thanks for organizing all the wonderful creative projects around town. It not only makes the town beautiful and welcoming, it also shows us all that there is a place for art and creativity within our community." - Shubhra Chandra, Artwalk Committee member

"Munroe Center for the Arts (MCA) is an invaluable resource for the town of Lexington and surrounding communities. It is a hub of opportunity for creatives of all ages; supporting and educating young children, tweens, teens, adults and seniors across many artistic areas and pursuits. Throughout the years, my family has had the good fortune to partake in so much of what MCA has to offer. From children’s and adult classes at the Dance Inn, Lexington School of Ballet and Lexington Music School, all with wonderful and talented teachers, to work and volunteer opportunities at summer camps and local events, we have experienced the magic of this precious place first hand, and have had the opportunity to pay it forward and give back a bit. Personal and professional development and fulfillment through the arts happen at MCA on a daily basis. For our youth, lifelong love and appreciation for the arts, as well as livelihoods and careers are launched from MCA. For our older residents, MCA offers the ability to sustain hobbies, interests and social ties. Executive Director Cristina Burwell is entirely devoted to her role, and works tirelessly to champion the arts in Lexington and beyond. She, and MCA, provide a sense of unity and connection through the arts. MCA is a gem in our community, and is a benefit to all." - Pamela Rice, Lexington parent & resident

"I have worked at Lexington Music School at the Munroe Center for the Arts for the last 12 years and I can honestly say that I look forward to walking through these doors every single day.  Not only is it an incredible feeling to have had our two daughters grow up here, but I now see so many other children doing the same.  The options offered at all of the schools in the building never cease to amaze me and the fact that there are artists renting studio space here as well means that we are surrounded by amazing art work year round.  Here at the Music School, we regularly have adults who were students of Epp Sonin (the Director here) popping in to say hello, but also to bring their children for music lessons.  Several of her past students have gone on to become professional musicians and now teach with us.  It's such a pleasure to think about those generations continuing to pass through the building.  The people who work in this building are like a family who bring so many talents with them, and here they are, all gathered together in one place.  It is hard to imagine a more ideal situation, and that is why we need to make sure it will be here for generations to come." - Atheane Waite (left), Lexington parent & resident
