Background:
Thelonius Griffin has dedicated his life to the performing arts, beginning his professional career as a boy soprano and studying opera. He continued his musical pursuits by playing in bands, composing, performing concerts/recitals and teaching music in the Boston area.
Griffin worked and helped develop songwriting workshops for Suskind Young at Arts program at The Wang Center, Boston, MA.
As a singer, Griffin has premiered works by award-winning composer Jonathan Dawe as a featured soloist with The Cygnus Ensemble in New York City, NY. Griffin was commissioned to compose his first ballet suite, Flightless - choreographed by Leah Glenn and performed by the modern dance troupe “Orchesis” at William and Mary College. Over the last 8 years, Griffin has served as assistant music director, background vocalist, and even Tour Manager for Blue-Note recording artist Kandace Springs.
Currently he teaches a variety of instruments, as well as voice performance and song writing from his studio at the Munroe Center for the Arts' Lexington School of Music.
