Friday Clay

This small in person class gives hands a chance to squish, roll and pound clay into fun and functional ceramics. Children will learn the value of creativity and art making while developing fine motor skills. An apron/smock is not required but makes cleanup easier.

"Over, under, over, under, over, under. In this class children will learn the fundamentals of weaving and explore the multitude of possibilities the weaving medium has to offer. From using a cardboard loom to create a small rug or tapestry to weaving a small basket with a paper cup, weaving offers the opportunity for children to use a different part of their creative brain to construct and build artwork. This class will also explore the various materials one can weave with : yarn, ribbon, raffia, pipe cleaner and so much more!"

This freeform class balances technical instruction with independent pursuit of artistic goals. We will enthusiastically explore drawing and painting techniques. Students are welcome and encouraged to use the medium of their preference if not acrylic. Acrylic paints and material will be provided on site. Students who prefer another medium will receive suggestions from their instructor about which materials to have for class.
Each participant has their own sanitized table and is seated at least 6' away from others.

* For the Winter 2021 session, the class format will be determined by town and state Covid-19 restrictions. It is our hope that by limiting class size and using masks, gloves and sanitizers as needed, we will provide the personal distancing and safety required for a studio experience.
