MONDAYS
Wheel Throwing: Surface Design, Carmela Fratus – Instructor
9 Mondays, 1/6 – 3/16 (no class 1/20 & 2/17), 10am – 1pm

Students practice surface design techniques, including mishima and slip, through weekly demonstrations
and exercises.
Life Drawing Studio & Model Time, Laurel Smith – Instructor
9 Mondays, 1/6 – 3/16 (no class 1/20 & 2/17), 10am – 12pm

This class is an open life-drawing studio. We provide the studio, models, easels, tables, music, and
community; you provide materials and artistic direction. All levels welcome.
TUESDAYS
Painting LARGE, Emily Passman – Instructor
10 Tuesdays 1/7 – 3/17 (no class 2/18), 9:30am – 12:30pm

Does this sound like you: “I never dared to paint on a really big canvas!” Emily will lead you with exercises
to break into a new and exciting size with your work. The class will cover composition, value control, and
color power. This class is for oil or acrylic painters, intermediate or advanced. A materials list will be provided.
Potters Wheel and Hand-building, Carmela Fratus – Instructor
10 Tuesdays 1/7 – 3/17 (no class 2/18), 10am – 1pm

This class is designed to allow each student to learn to create in clay and use the potter’s wheel at their own
pace in a supportive community. Weekly demonstrations on technique are shared while students are encouraged
to develop their own style. All levels welcome.
Wheel Throwing: Pots with Purpose, Carmela Fratus – Instructor
10 Tuesdays 1/7 – 3/17 (no class 2/18), 5:30pm – 8:30pm

The potter’s wheel will be used to create functional and decorative forms. Beginning students have weekly
instruction and assistance. Returning students develop personal style through weekly demonstrations and
exercises. *Evening instruction ends at 7:30pm, studio is open until 8:30pm
WEDNESDAYS
Ceramics: Basics and Beyond, Carmela Fratus – Instructor
10 Wednesdays 1/8 – 3/18 (no class 2/19), 10am – 1pm
$342/Materials Fee: $35
Students learn foundational hand-building and potter’s wheel techniques in a fun and relaxing environment.
Beginning students have weekly instruction and assistance. Returning students develop their personal style
through self-directed projects.
Ceramics: Independent Explorations, Carmela Fratus – Instructor
10 Wednesdays 1/8 – 3/18 (no class 2/19), 5:30pm – 8:30pm
$342/Materials Fee: $35 (25lbs of clay)
For intermediate and advanced students only, this independent studies class is available to focus on
self-directed projects. Students meet one-on-one with the instructor for guidance and demonstration.
THURSDAYS
Open Painting Studio, Emily Passman – Instructor

Approach your independent painting work under the guidance of an accomplished instructor,
while working on your projects at your own pace. All mediums welcome; a suggested materials
list will be provided.
Basic Drawing, Jill Pottle – Instructor
10 Thursdays 1/9 – 3/19 (no class 2/20), 6pm – 9pm

Come learn the basic techniques of how to draw. Through a variety of exercises, students will
learn how to correct proportions, design an effective composition, and create a strong sense of
perspective. Using charcoal and pencil, students will draw landscape, still life and portrait. We will
address value, line, tone and texture. This is a class for the beginner or the person who needs to
brush up on their drawing skills. This course reminds us that drawing is the backbone of painting.
Ceramics: Exploring Possibilities, Carmela Fratus – Instructor
10 Thursdays 1/9 – 3/19 (no class 2/20), 10am – 1pm
$342/Material fee: $35
Join us to create functional ceramics using both hand-building and potter’s wheel techniques.
Through weekly demonstrations, students will learn foundational glazing techniques while creating
both functional and decorative pieces.
