Sky and Water I (1938) MC Escher
NEW Printmaking: Tessellations with Linocut
Wednesdays 10-12:30 PM
February 11 - March 4 (partial semester)
Instructor - Stephanie Stigliano
$214 + $25 materials fee
This partial semester class will introduce students to the creation of tessellations using relief printmaking techniques. Tessellations, such as in MC Escher’s artwork, involve the creation of pattern and design through repetition. By carving shapes in linocut blocks, students can produce a repeatable pattern with seamless transitions. Students can customize their own fabrics with these patterns, but must provide their own fabric to print on; the instructor will provide details and suggestions during the first class.
All experience levels are welcome. The printmaking studio utilizes non-toxic materials.
