This summer, the town of Lexington received a grant to create more sidewalk space for residents and visitors. The ArtWalk Committee was approached to help make the resulting barriers more attractive.
Artists who would like to participate in this project are invited to email us to learn more about how to participate.
Artists will be provided with any number of panels to paint on. These panels are made of 18 x 24" corrugated plastic. Each barrier will hold 4 panels, so artists may either paint one panel, or "adopt a barrier" and paint all 4 panels in a mural style.
Artwork will go up in mid September, and panels will be available August 31, and due back on September 9. Panels will be able to be picked up and then returned to the Munroe Center for the Arts.
Panels will be supplied to artists, but they need to provide their own painting materials. All designs need to be waterproof and family-friendly with no political or religious content. There is no age requirement, however artwork should exemplify good artistry and craftsmanship.
