MCA COVID-19 Policy
updated August 2024
We value the health and safety of all our artists, staff, teachers, students, and visitors. We thank you for being ehere, and ask for your assistance in remaining vigilant to COVID-19 as it remains in our community. Please know that the policies described below are subject to change should relevant health data in our community change.
Please reference the Lexington Board of Health's resources for the most up-to-date information and procedures.
Masks - Many people continue to wear masks, but no one is required by MCA to do so. Students or visitors may be asked to wear a mask in the event of symptoms or if they have been a close contact.
The main office (214) maintains a supply of masks for anyone who needs one, as well as hand sanitizer.
Vaccinations - The Lexington Board of Health continues to recommend getting the COVID-19 vaccine and booster, staying home when you feel sick, and testing for COVID 19 when appropriate. Vaccinations are not required for students or visitors at the MCA.
MCA staff continue to be required to have proof of vaccination.
COVID-19 SYMPTOMS & EXPOSURE
Symptoms - Anyone feeling unwell with cold, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms, however minor, should respectfully stay out of the building and test before returning.
Testing positive - If a student tests positive at any point, they need to let their teacher at the MCA know so that administrative staff here can ascertain if the student was infectious when they were in the building, and if anyone else might have been affected. CDC recommends returning to normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, symptoms are improving overall, and if a fever was present, it has been gone without use of a fever-reducing medication.
Missed class - If a class was missed due to COVID-19, students should contact their dance or music program, or the main office for classes in ceramics, visual arts, or theater.
Close contact - If a student has been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, they are asked to follow CDC guidelines. “Close contact” means being less than 6 feet away from an infected person (laboratory-confirmed or clinical diagnosis) for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more.
Thank you to our entire MCA community for your tenacity, and kindness as we persevere through this pandemic. Questions or concerns can be made to MCA's executive director by email, or by phone (M - Th, 10am - 5pm) - 781.862.6040

- If vaccinated and no symptoms - a student can return to class, but should monitor for symptoms for 10 days after the last close contact with someone with COVID-19. Even if symptoms don’t develop, individuals in close contact should get tested at least 5 days after the last close contact with someone with COVID-19. In taking precautions, students should come to class with a well-fitted mask (KN95 or better) for these 10 days. If symptoms develop, individuals need to isolate immediately, get tested, and report their status to their MCA teacher.
