First Lexington Open Studios Sees Hundreds of Visitors,
May 2 & 3 - Munroe Center for the Arts is pleased to have played an initiating role in creating the first Town of Lexington Open Studios (LOS).

116 artists participated , including 25 in their Lexington homes, 16 at our Community Space, 15 at Lexington Arts and Crafts Society (LACS), and 8 artists here at Munroe (MCA). The Community Space was donated by Sharon Spaulding of Spaulding Management Co., LLC, of Concord.
Other participants includde five LACS guilds and Francesca Anderson Fine Arts Portraits North.
Special weekend events included a raku demonstration at Munroe; a pottery sale, Festival of Fiber gallery show and talk at LACS, and the Cary Memorial Library Art Sale and Soiree fundraiser.

ArtSpan receives $5K Grant
for Senior Art Program
ArtSpan at Munroe Center for the Arts is thrilled to announce our receipt of a $5,000 Arts and Culture grant from Crossroads Community Foundation. This will fund the continuation and expansion of the Senior Arts Program, established in collaboration with Lexington's Council on Aging. The Senior Arts Program provides arts courses and workshops at the Senior Center and Adult Supportive Day Care Program. See the Lexington Minuteman article.
Lexington School of Ballet Holds Children's Hospital Fundraiser
MCA--Dec 12. Lexington School of Ballet held a "Nutcracker Sweet Tea" fundraiser and toy drive for Children's Hospital. Students from 4-9 years old made Nutcracker holiday crafts, enjoyed a tea party, and watched Nutcracker dances performed by older students. All proceeds and hundreds of toys benefited the hospital.

Benefit nets $2,000 for Pragmatic Arts Program
Lexington Players hosted a Premiere benefit for ArtSpan's Pragmatic Arts Program. The well-attended benefit at Hancock Church last month featured MCA the premiere of board member Merrrill Meadow's Inescapable Mutualities directed by Sal Jones, and a panel discussion of the civil rights and race issues raised by the play.

20% of profits from A Gift For the Arts goes into a fund for scholarships for Lexington residents of all ages to attend Munroe Center programs.
