Figure Drawing Studio

The Painter's Workout (ONLINE)

Gain a new approach to art through a series of creative exercises this winter! This online, partial semester class will lead students to improve and strengthen their painting skills, through demos, skill-building practices, creative exploration, and group critiques. Students are encouraged to build upon their personal style, blending technical skills and creative expression.
This class is ideal for oil or acrylic painters with some experience, whether recent or returning to the craft after a break! “The Painter’s Workout” will meet online through Zoom in January and February, with links provided through email. A recommended materials list is available here.

Making Prints/Artbooks

Build personalized artbooks and learn printmaking in the process! This class will introduce students to the intersection of two and three dimensional art, as well as how to meld written words, images, structures, and multimedia materials. By introducing four printmaking methods and options of book structures, students can mix and match their own ideas for crafting stories, aesthetics, memories, and more!
All experience levels are welcome. The printmaking studio utilizes non-toxic materials; all students are asked to review the 2024-25 printmaking studio guidelines (provided upon registration) ahead of their first class in the space.

As a constant presence, the self can be a fantastic subject to learn from, especially using foundational methods of drawing and linework. This class will introduce students to themselves - how to develop observation skills in order to capture individual expressions, anatomy, and personality on paper. Foundational skills will be enhanced through experimenting with various materials like pencil, charcoal, watercolor pen, and more. This class is ideal for visual artists with some experience, whether recent or returning to the craft after a break!
